As part of the growing long-term partnership between Siemens and Masdar, the companies have collaborated to establish the new Middle East headquarters for Siemens at Masdar City in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE). Approximately 800 Siemens employees will move into the new building.
The building is designed to the highest standards of sustainability, using eco-friendly materials and energy efficient technologies that will contribute to saving up to 50 percent of energy consumption compared to conventional building of the same size. Built in adherence to LEED Platinum certification standards, it is considered to be one of the greenest buildings in the UAE and the Middle East.
Siemens has been operating in the UAE for more than 40 years and the new regional headquarters office at Masdar City is a significant milestone for the company. The move will strengthen Siemens’ presence in Abu Dhabi, complimenting operations across the emirates, and build on a strategic and valued relationship with Masdar and its shareholders.
Designed by Sheppard Robson, the building has been named winner of following awards:
- Iconic Award 2013 in the Corporate Architecture category
- The coveted MIPIM Architectural Review Future Projects Awards 2012 in the Offices Category
- International Property Award Winners – Arabia 2012 for Best Office Architecture
- The Middle East Architects Awards 2012 (First Prize for Commercial Project of the Year & First Prize for Sustainable Project of the Year)
